New Pelorian is the linguistic expression of the Empire and its various forms. At the lowest level it is a lingua franca for the masses, a linking language that allows All to be Us. At this level it will be very basic, a common tongue to aid trade, information sharing and negotiation. As with anything of the Goddess, even the lowliest illiterate, the poorest peasant and most ignorant street urchin can pick up the language and converse with another of the faith (admittedly accent will have an enormous effect, rather the same effect some of my Canadian colleagues have on watching the movie "Snatch" or the sub titles for the rhyming slang in Austin Powers Goldmember).
However, there are deeper truths to the language due to its primal linking origins throughout the many eras of the reincarnating goddess. It is this deeper knowledge, this understanding of the power and meaning of the words, character linkages and runic associations that can lead to illumination and insight.
A zealous student of New Pelorian might have rooms full of scribblings as they write the name of the Goddess in a thousand different ways or seek the one true spelling that will empower them with her cosmic understanding. Others, especially of the sorcerous orders can see spells and guides to nodes and powers among the characters of the language, which equate to numbers, in a kind of Kabbalistic fashion. They would see the matrices of New Pelorian interactions as a route to power, a formula of magic. Furthermore, the animists of the Empire could see New Pelorian as new forms of spiritual mantra to be used to summon the potent lunar spirits of the Goddess and her family, chant that prove irresistable is said in the right way or uttered the correct number of times.
Beyond this, the Lunar Way teaches that these forms of magic are accessing the ultimate though different doors that lead to the same place and New Pelorian can open those doors. The language of Lunar Magic is New Pelorian, the key to illumination is understanding.
