Entertaining Hero Wars characters

Hello,

I have another new topic for you:

Excerpts from my gallery of used and unused Hero Wars characters. Those are player-characters that I made up at one point or another for myself, for convention gaming or my old gaming group at home. Most of them are sadly unused, and since the old group was dissolved last year, with people moving away to other towns and others entirely leaving the hobby, they are unlikely to be used any time soon. But I tell you a few things about them here; maybe you can use one or the other as an inspiration somewhere
(or as a joke?).

What's interesting to me is that the following characters were never originally intended to come across as "funny" or even as spoofs, they simply developed to have that potential. What's more, I guess I have always been the humorous type of game master.

Here are the notables from the gallery:

(I can send you complete Hero Wars stats for these
off-list, if you should request them.)

SALHIL, Barntari farm lad
originally from my first RuneQuest group,   created and played by my buddy Michael. -- used to carry an inconspicuous small sickle with an Ernaldan healing rune on it, also fought with that sickle and refused to practice with any more high-profile weapons than a very simple sword; loved animals and outdoor activities, ridiculed townsfolk and never got used to "coin money".
Generally very composed, quiet, introverted, naive as hell, and basically the sweetest guy in the world. Survived spirit possession in a haunted house, zombies and vampires, had his strength drained by a Lamia but managed to fight it off eventually. Famous for trapping a hellion in a wooden box and cutting two pirates' right arm off. Became friends with some Aldryami who permitted them into some of their forests when he travelled across Ralios, was ambushed and almost killed by Goblin snipers and still made it out OK (that was under the old RQ game rules with Hit Points!), later trampled to death by a chaotic stag-monster and resurrected by a healing priestess; then managed to cut the head off of a 40-foot sea demon after his Uzko buddy Nhyrridkhyk had pounded that monster into near-unconsciousness. Since Nhyrridkhyk was cowardly killed by a guardian soldier from the demon's cult, Salhil made it back to his friends unharmed and since he had decapitated the monster, he was celebrated as the big hero and was paid such a high amount in reward by a wealthy Issaries merchant for freeing the merchant's fiancée that he became ridiculously rich and lived in a seaport town for several months. He alter set off to return to his native stead bearing fancy armor and a big sword with diamonds in its hilt that he had no use for. I think he was going to donate the diamond-embellished sword to a friendly temple, and lived happily ever after.

Favorite quote, when he first went to a big city: "Do your women here bear you so many children that you have to add another story to the houses?"

OK, that post ran a bit long,
so I am saving my other favourites for next time.

Norbert
