When Sir Ethilrist purchases hundreds of slaves and criminals, then feeds them to his mounts, he's *not* commiting cannibalism.
The step that happens *before* the eating is the problem, since I've never seen Sir Ethilrist described as a cold-blooded mass murderer.
Not to mention any spiritual effects on the deceased, which were hinted at but never really defined.
