I've never perceived this (and I am an inveterate punster and fan of humour in Glorantha). The building blocks of the name appear to be sa- Felster, not Safe- elster. The only pronunciation I've heard or used sounds like "Saff" (rhymes with "chaff") rather than "Safe" (rhymes with "Ralph"* or "wraith").
