John Hughes'"Everything is Thunder" would be suitably epic, and offers a wide variety of roles from grizzled heroes to young (would be) lovers, so you should be able to find a role for al your favourites...
On a much lower budget, does anyone else recall the Channel 4 series "Damon Runyon's Broadway tales"? Mike McShane,suitably attired narrating one of Runyon's tales from a Barstool, few props, no other actors, no expensive digital effects - A similar show for Oliver Dickinson's Runyonesque Griselda tales could be equally effective...
