Likely candidates are the Oak and the Holly, which in RW Mythologhy represent the summer and winter king respectively. (Orlanth and Elmal maybe?) Also they are both said to attract lightening.

Another possibility is the good old Rose. The Sartarites may look to a winter blooming white rose for inspiration, whilst the Tarshites identify with a summer blooming red rose. Therefore giving rise to a War of the Roses spin.
