Somebody said he liked the fact that everybody had magic. I'd have to disagree here. The battle magic in RQ2 soon got boring - everybody had Bladesharp 4 and Protection 4 etc. etc. Even Divine Magic just gave everybody Shield, etc. I know other gamers have made similar complaints.
However, my group keeps sinking back into that mode. :-( In our current non-HW Gloranthan system, we have eliminated "boring" battlemagic but divine magic has become, to some extent, nearly as predicable and mundane as we mini-max/optimize characters. So this might just reflect my gaming groups, who tend to be very military/optimizing and less role-playing/myth-making.
