Sadly untrue. If you post a thread entitled something like 'Playing a Lunar campaign' on a non-Gloranthan list a huge number of responses come from Exalted players who post confused about what your are referring too and then get angry that a new game like Heroquest is out there stealing names from established games like Exalted (let alone the outrage that Heroquest was stolen from Games Workshop).

Folks, please understand, while Glorantha may be very big as far as you are concerned the majority of gamers have never heard of it, and have never played Runequest, nor have any desire to do so. Most do have some idea there was a Basic Role Playing, but only know that it is an 'old 80's game, pretty broken and well past its sell by date that really drags down that great setting Call of Cthulu; which would be so much better if Chaosium just accepted everyone wanted to play D20.' There is a huge marketing hurdle to cross. Glorantha may not have died during those wilderness years of fan support, but it lost huge amounts of brand value.
