I have used the 100 word narrative method, but provided numerous examples* to give ideas, had a reasonable length of time before the game to sort out details, AND had a more "medium to open" campaign than most (or so it seems, although I didn't have a Yinkini amazon halftroll, too bad!).

I feel that the 100word thing only works on reasonably heroic heroes who have a few tales to tell. I certainly wouldn't use 100words for a Heortling not adult as they really haven't got a story to back them up.

Anyway, I enjoy the restrictions of the "100word essay" despite others perfectly reasonable objections and my players provided me with several entertaining characters because of it.
