If we set up half a dozen new lists, then I think it's more likely to lead to confusion and put people off posting. Some people won't be sure which is the correct list - for example, is a post about the origins of the Grazers suitable for the Dragon Pass list, the Prax list, the "East" list (Pent), the "Lunar Empire" list (if you want to debate their possible Pelorian/Sairdic roots) or where? So you'll get arguments about "this is in the wrong place", or you'll get people cross-posting so that many of us will see the same message multiple times, and won't be sure which copy to reply to, or you'll get threads migrating from list to list... As for newbies, they'll be completely baffled.

Much simpler IMO to keep everything together, and use the "next message" key if you're really not interested in a subject. After all, it's not as though we have hundreds of posts a day.

Just to throw something else in, have those who dislike the current format thought about proposing a system of code letters in the message titles, so they can filter on these? It works in other groups.
