Not wanting to take a joke too seriously, but I've always found that to be the best solution to the pronounciation differences.

Our English GM says Pay-vis, I say Pa-vis with an a like in "at", others say Pah-vis. Clearly the native Pavisites say "Pay-vis", the northern Sartarites say "Pa-vis" and the southern Sartarites say "Pah-vis". The Sun-domers most likely have their own pronounciation.. .
