I've yet to see HQ, so I'm basing this on the drafts I've seen, but if you are willing to wing a certain amount of the detail, you should be able to run a pretty convincing game from HQ alone. What I've seen was pretty good at covering the broad details, and looked a pretty good starting point for newbies. Of course, you can *always* ask for more details, and when you've found out which bits of Glorantha interest you, you might want to find some of the other books, magazines, web sites, etc.

I'll mention a couple of specifics resources that may help. HeroQuest Voices should be out soon - its a free pdf download that'll be on the glorantha.com web site. It provides more information on each of the homelands in HQ, in the format of "What my Father Told Me" - a short series of questions and answers covering things like "what is evil" "who are the gods" and so on.

Lokarnos.com is a web site I put together with Nick Brooke and Oliver Bernuetz. It provides an index of many of the best web sites about Glorantha, all collected by topic (countries, races, etc.). You should be able to find all the info you could want on whatever interests you.

Other than that, just pick out the bits in HQ that interest you, and ask questions here!

Cheers,
Graham
