At the -29 c level there will be no water outside, not even fast running streams or waterfalls unless they're hot springs. Interesting enough when my parents used to put fresh water outside for our pigeon in the winter they would put cold water out because it supposedly froze slower than hot did. I'm not sure if they were right or not.

Snow does squeak when it gets that cold. It's pretty cool. If it's really cold and clear and you're far enough north you might hear the northern lights. I don't know if Glorantha has such a phenomena though.

Animals that hibernate do so, some birds fly south to places where they can get more food. Birds don't migrate because of the cold but mostly from the need to find the proper food. Lot's of birds stick around all winter. Some smalls animals estivate and others slow down but they still have to find food. It certainly seems quieter and calmer somehow. Much brighter too on clear days because of all the nice shiny snow! There's a reason northern natives invented snow goggles. The glare can be definitely blind you.

If it gets cold enough the trees can shatter from their sap freezing. Thankfully it doesn't get that cold in Winnipeg. Fimbulwinter though?

Oliver
