Except for all the things that are easier to do when it has snowed and is cold. Like bringing home wood from the forest, which is a lot easier to do on a sled. There are a lot of the transporting you can do for the whole year, and since you possibly have time to spare, why not do it while it is easy. Need new stones for the foundation of the house? Sand? Limestone? In sweden a lot of trading took place during the cold winter months. Travelling was easy, regardless of whether you went by ice or snow.

When there's ice on the lake you can cut reeds. Or repair the bridge. There's also good and easy fishing to do.

Not to mention all the stuff you might as well do when you have time to spare, like charcoal burning, smithing, repairing the fences, amking tools for the whole year, etc. And if you have a boat, now is the time to prepare it.

Winter is not an excuse for idleness. ;-)
