If you need an answer *for your players*, that's easy. Pick whatever school of magic is most unlike your players', and say "Everyone knows that's what Dragons use." All Heortlings know that the dragons are sorcerors. All Malkioni know that the dragons are embodied great spirits. All Praxians know that dragons have *something* to do with that weird red moon.
Everyone in Glorantha has some kind of theory about the dragons, but all those theories are wrong. Dragons are the Weird Shit Yo.
As I see it, anyway. YGWV, if the dragons have anything to say about it.
