A very cool idea. One of the absolute best RPG experiences I ever
had was at a con where I took part in a 3 (or was it 4?) part session
playing part of a super hero group. The game started off with the
heros as little kids, then there was a young adult session, then an
adult session and the last session was set in an old age home where
we all lived (except for the one hero who was immortal and ageless.
The bastard!) We had such fun playing the aged characters. Aging's
bad enough but when your super powers wither away it's even worse.
Nevermind that ageless bugger rubbing our mortality in our faces.
The closing scene was the ageless hero attending the funeral of his
last surviving team mates. Quite poignant.
Of course we did none of the intersession work like you're
suggesting, it was all the hard work of the GM but it was one helluva
game. It's a great idea for a convention scenario.
