Not in my opinion. You are in the right "place". And the premise of your campiagn is good enough and similar to our own.

I leave these answers to other people, more expert in orlanthi cults than me.

I figured my own opinion about two swords technique in regard to Drizzt Do'Urden (I am no SCAer, myself). Two swords are better than one and shield if you are trained to use them.
You could imagine this fact in heroquest simply by giving a fancy name to the tecnique your player wants to use: something like "X Wing style" or "Twin Whirling Tongues" or "Wheels of Blood". Emphasis and personalization is important in Heroquest. Have you read the HeroBook?

This one I leave to others too.

good.

Yes, why not?

Intriguing question!

This last option is tempting: food for good roleplaying, probably.

I use only Simple Contests for Archery. I suppose it serves me better than the extended contest rules. Just consider any level of defeat as "dead counter" and pay the archer with counter shooting. The players will give you hints on how to save narrator characters the next time *they* are shooting at a moving target/hidden target/armored target etc.

Hope the above helps just a bit.
