The hero is a member of the FBI who was shot in the head several years ago, and died for about 10 minutes on the operating table. When he recovered, he was judged clinically insane, but he's better now, after years of therapy. He definitely has "issues" with having died and come back (plus the rude frontal lobotomy the bullet performed on him, eliminating his sense of shame, if nothing else).
