Maybe this is a case of the sources dealing more with the upper strata ? They might have more opportunities - going to tribal moots, or the invitations to feasts at neighbouring clans (as in KoDP), or mainly for men (Vingans usually not being in the marriage market) guarding trading expeditions. And the political and economic reasons for marrying into a different clan would apply more strongly to the upper ranks.
