Ahh, now THAT I'd buy easily. The high holy script is for initiates only, and there is a low tongue used for common transactions.

Hey, I found it. It's here in MoLaD, where the society Ronos Allwind belongs too is mentioned to be annoying the LM cultists by teaching writing.

(p.64-65) "In addition to teaching standard academy, skills, the School also teaches literacy and acts as a scriptorium, caysing friction with the Lankhor Mhy cult. The School appeals to the Esrolian doctrine that only the sacred alphabets of the cult are covered by the Lankhor Mhy prohibition against others teaching reading and writing, and so it teaches a modified form of written Kethaelan. Further violent debates are expected."

That certainly seems to imply the Orlanthi (at least currently) follow a stricter form of LM monopoly on writing, while in Esrolia (and possibly much of the Holy Country), there is the "sacred alphabet" interpretation.

I could work with that.
