Men of the Sea is good book to look outside area of Glorantha after long wait.

Varchulanga is also called "Mother of Monsters" p.54 (it is described as shapeless), but I don't think it is related to Chaos Hive Monster that roams coast of Pamaltela though it has same name in english, Varchulanga's runes are sort of Darkness and Sea, not that of Chaos.
