For what it's worth [YGWV], my interpretation of Carmanian Hum'akt is this: Hum'akt is the personification of a mental faculty of the Creator
(Idovanus). He is Idovanus' power of discernment - the holy power of
Separation. Thus with Hum'akt, the Holy Razor, Idovanus separated Light from Dark, Earth from Water, and most importantly Truth from Deceit. He is the Dread Judge of the Dead who guards/is the Sword Bridge spanning the pit of Hell to Paradise, which only those with perfect spiritual Balance may cross. In the mundane world, Hum'akt is most often seen as the Sword of Idovanus, which cleanses the world of the Lie and sends its foul minions to Hell.

The power of Hum'akt is morally neutral, though. Wielded by Idovanus
(and His followers) it is a force for good - helping to maintain life
and oppose the Lie. Hum'akt is sometimes wielded by agents of the Lie, though, as when (wild speculation alert!) Daak used it to pull down the sun, etc. From this I figure that Carmanian Hum'akti consider Sartarite Humakti to be Lie tainted scum in serious need of immediate decapitation.

Undead are a disgusting product of the Lie, being neither truly alive or dead. Beings who return from the land of the dead under the proper circumstances, following the proper rules (as happened during Four Arrows of Light and the beginning of the Battle of Castle Blue), are a different matter.

Torture has nothing at all to do with Separation, and therefore Hum'akt, except in the dubious capacity of separating the Truth from Deceit. The purposeful inflicting of pain is generally used for either purification or compulsion in Carmania.

Just one guy's opinion. :)
