Try Fiore of Italy in the 1300's. Longsword (bastard, for us RPG people) is much more apt. Even that is plate & mail era of course.

PS. Rapiers for Glorantha should be the bronze age "minoan rapiers". Slim thrusting swords did exist a long time ago... very different, of course.
