Namaste All.
I'm still in the processing of planning the Sky World HeroQuest of my
Teshnan PC's. Complicating matters somewhat is that one of the characters
is trying to become a Shaman, and is looking for a Heavenly spirit to assist
him in awakening his Fetch.
My question to the list this: What celestial bodies are Spirits? Here is
an incomplete list that I've come up with, mostly from consulting Terra
Incognita's list here:
http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~BLUEMAGI/NamesofHB-e.htm
- The Sun - as mentioned in the Sky World Q&A, the Sun is Essential,
Theistic, Spiritual, and probably even Mystic. My Teshnan would be shaman
has an allied Sun Spirit, but he is not following the proscribed Chalite
paths, and is unlikely to select the Sun as his shamanic sponsor. (He's of
the Night Caste.)
- Night - A Great Spirit certainly, but hostile to the fire-revering
Teshnans.
- The Moons - The Red Moon and Blue Moon are both Lunar in their own way,
and thus can act like Spirits at times. Said shaman distrusts the Moons, so
that doesn't seem like a good choice for him. (It will make an interesting
"interference" station in the HeroQuest, however.)
- The Twinstars - The Lunars and Praxians consider them to be Spirits,
though their origin is rather mysterious.
- Polestar - The Grazer's consider this star to be related to Denbitos,
their Shamanic tradition. I'm leaning most towards this, as the character
in question considers himself a seer and visionary. I know there are some
Heortling and Dara Happan myths about Rigsdal/Polaris, but I'm more
interesting in Eastern mythology, where the Polestar is considered Kendarmin
the Sage. (Though I presume that would be a Vithelan God, not a Spirit.)
Are there any major stellar Spirits that I'm missing? In the end, I'll go
with MGF and YGWV, but I'd like hear what other Gloranta-philes think.
Thanks in advance.
