YGDV, :) I'd suggest some kind of HQ too.
Are your players OK with it being a non-combat with LDoaH?

How about something like this: You make sure that each player has some particular power to defeat something in LDoaH. They have Hero Points to make sure they can succeed, IF they get back there with them.

So then a wise old wizard--some ancient guy from Sog City who remembers this stuff--tells them how to travel back through the death horde's history to confront LDoaH (in the underworld?) when he makes his decision to go bad.

They can revisit the battles that he fought along the way, and have an opportunity to shift it to be a triumph. Their presences does it. But they might have to use up the HP. But they get their fill of fighting here.

Then they get to the time when LDoaH is being tutored in his future, but they have the "facts of the future." They get into a debate--non combat--with the forces that armed LDoaH in the first place. They are going to need those HP against the demons and gods here!

They have to, in the end, show LDoaH that his plan is flawed, and that the danger is of turning the Kingdom of Virtue into the Kingdom of War--NOT his apparent plan!

But the tension is to have them get through to the debate with enough HP intact to carry through.

I am assuming that you will allow them to fail at this. That they might use up their HP on the way to the confrontation, and it all comes to naught.

If that happens, then you can always have them return from the failed HQ and attend the council meeting where the King decides to use dark powers to destroy the KoW. And have them in that battle, to fight to the end (their desires!) and (likely) the short-term victory.

Heck, this victory might be DUE TO the things they learned on their HQ! They will have defeated the component parts of the army, after all...

Sincerely,
Greg Stafford
