Having played in David's game for a while, I concur. There were occasions when David ruled out an augment because it was fresh, but I don't recall that it ever stopped play for long.

Honestly, I liked the freshness requirement, because it encouraged me to think up some interesting detail to add to what my character was doing. Of course, players should be doing that regardless of the rules, but the rule was an additional incentive or reminder.
