I had been running "functional" Mostali colonies as hive minds. The very ability to support an individual "identity" is seen as a malfunction, the part needing to be sent for scrap and recycle. Ultimately, of course, the malmeme of "individual identity" is scheduled to be eliminated from the World Machine entirely, since this is specifically what caused all the trouble in the first place.
Indeed, to some degree or another, one thing that I have used as a gamemaster to distinguish humanity is that it is the only race that actually posessess individual identities in any full and complete state. Even the contrary Uz are born with major parts of their "personality" (if such a term quite applies) hard-wired, much as they are all born with Darktongue hard-wired. The older the race, the less individual personality exists.
That is one of the things I liked about Glorantha--the nonhumans weren't just Thora Birch in bad makeup.
