I remember speculation about Knight Fort as a Krak des Chevaliers type place, a God Learner leftover (possibly with a Crusader garrison of Sir Richard the Tiger-Hearted's Rokari mercenaries at the period you mention), and Barbarian Town as a rough-and-ready Cossack camp- -settlement on the edge of the Wastes. But do your own searches using the place-names. You'll get some good hits.
