Much depends on whether the player-character informed the ring about the chaotic items, and whether he performed the Eurmal ritual with their knowledge and approval. Glancing over the fines for Transgressions of Ceremony & Magic (THUNDER REBELS, p. 84), lesser outlawry for a year (or until he solves the trickster problem) might be preferable to full outlawry, if the player-character is a clan member in good standing (i.e., has decent Relationships with Clan and/or Chief) and did not openly defy the ring by his actions. If he did not inform the ring about the items *and* conducted the Eurmal ritual without their knowledge and approval, then more severe penalties (fines plus banishment or full outlawry) should apply. Regardless, he should find himself visited by agents of reprisal for the duration of his outlawry. He *did* let Chaos into the world, after all.
