In this same situation I eventually resorted to performing the Issaries heroquest and giving the weapons to the digging sticks people. After all, how much worse could things get for them anyways? *grin*
By the way, my guess is that the things aren't "cursed" as such, but holding onto, and treating as a treasure, sorcerous implements somehow taints our pure god-and-ancestor worshipping magic.
