Before (Visigoths against Byzantium) or after Theudareiks (Theodoricus the Great, Ostrogoths against Byzantium)?

The Gothic War (after Th.) wasted all of Italy for fifty years. It was a stroke the Italians (late romans) did not recover from for five centuries. Probably the Orlanthi are going getting a bit better than that ;)
