I think the Night Jumpers came out of the Curtali during the years when the Volsaxings once again had to pay the Shadow Tribute to the Kitori. I'm sure there are some good stories that will eventually come out of that period of time, but in 1619 at least, the Night Jumpers are a small independent clan of what are essentially Orlanthi mercenaries (kind of like the Fianna of Fionn mac Cumhaill).
