I haven't read the novel. I'm making a bit of a big deal about it because the King's Eye appears in a comic play as an official wearing a mask of a single eye. I borrowed the imagery for the Carmanians in Glorantha: Intro p119.

Speaking of eyes and persians, this is quite interesting:
