It does indeed seem that lunar armies make use of Chaos fairly often. In Heortland they cause and control a chaos eruption from the print to keep the locals busy, in several battles between sartarites and lunars there are mentions of use of broos and similar on the Lunar side.
And heck, why not? From the lunar perspectie it's propably similar to using mercenaries or wardogs. Since their magic gives them tools for controlling chaos, why not make use of it when it's there to be used.
One could even argue that having the monsters from the print fight the Heortlander resistance army is a win-win. There will be less chaos monsters and less resistance fighters to worry about. The land will be peaceful and the there will also be less threat of chaos.
