Smithing is Making - something they aren't very good at. Even curing hides with urine and brains is making - just flay the beast and wear the hide until it rots off.

Broos don't concentrate well - I figure they have the Magico-Racial trait of Extreme ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) - keeping going at one thing just isn't in their nature. Staying with a project is alien to them: fire-hardening a spearpoint is about all they can... look, food!

Sure. Just not very many (either in absolute numbers, or a a percentage of the population). I'd say less than one in a thousand, perhaps one in 10,000 has the mental stamina to stay the course in that sort of pursuit. Maybe one broo "Hero" in all of Prax, another in Dragon Pass , etc. Some of the more "rational" broos (Razalkark comes to mind) might be able to "nurture" clear-thinking broos as lietenants, but the vast majority of broos just aren't suited to pursuing a long-term goal (as opposed to short-term dinner or rape).

Probably not - broos have Thed and Mallia, and don't really need more. The really extraordinary broo might want to join some cult like that, but the cult might not want them - remember that those cults really like discipline in their followers, and broos have a hard time with it. The Than portion of Thanatar would appeal most to your basic broo - cutting off heads and sucking their magic? Sweet!

(Of course, now I'll probably get dinged by all those that want broos to be rational "not-monsters" and people will tell us about how they've got this Broo Poet-Philosopher and how that's "not wierd at all").
