Mikko:

>But what is the attitude of the church(es) towards demons?

They hate them. In the good old days, the Malkioni and the Sorcerers use to summon demons all the time but that is now considered to be a crucial reason for the fall of the God Learners.

>Also whatare demons on Glorantha?

Well there's the generic definition as creatures of the underworld. But a Malkioni definition would be a sorcererous creature of hell, which includes any spirit or godling that has been demonized.

A sylph summoned by an Orlanthi isn't a
demon. But if a sorceror were to capture that sylph and successfully demonize it (through lengthy rituals) then it would be a demon. Because of their unnatural existance, they are in spiritual pain and thus grumpy and foultempered.

As for dealing with demons, I don't think sane sorcerer will allow a demon to possess them. Instead they extract a spell through an excruciating ritual which acts similarly as a spell from an attuned essense (HQ p173). The Talisman would probably be some demonic bodypart so demons aren't going to be very happy with people summoning them for the purpose of spells.

One could also question a demon for knowledge but I'm not sure how that will work out.

Lastly there is a cult of demonologists under the aegis of Dadamus. Supposedly he was a true being equal to Zzabur himself but he destroyed himself or sank himself in order to gain control over the creatures of the Underworld.
