YGWV I have still been unable to get my internet hitched up, and am unable to reliably participate in these discussions (Ah, what a pleasure to live in a rural area!!). Nonetheless, I have a moment here.

Please see _Thunder Rebels_, page 174:

"A tribal king ... must be acclaimed king by the assembled clans. This is always a political decision, subject to much compromise, since nothing beyond its members' choice requires a clan to remain part of a tribe."

The book has much information of this nature, such as how the ring is chosen, etc.
