FWIW, I think the most interesting time for Umathela is probably right at the Opening. The Cult of Silence is largely gone (with some strange hold-outs), the city-folk are approached by the Gods of the Sea, the aldryami and the Orlanthi tribes are restive (muttering about omens and dire prophecies and so forth), Fonrit is ruled by an idiot madman, and Kareeshtu plots against the Gods of the Sea. Lots of opportunity for adventure and not as much need for elaborate background. In two generations, another Season War begins and the White Bear comes from the sea and wreaks havoc everywhere, leaving as quickly as he appeared.
