The programme was a co-production with Discovery, BBC Worldwide, Pro Sieben and France Deux.

If the male and female costumes had been a bit more... authentic... and the bull leaping a bit closer to what's shown on the frescos, viewing figures might have been enhanced...

It was also a little selective with the facts as archaeological sites on Crete suggest human sacrifice wasn't unknown prior to the eruption. Not certain that the Cretans/Therans would have used the name Poseidon (Poseidaon or Poseidawonos in Linear B).
