Or is Gloranthan maize a bit different?
 
Maybe not understanding about sex in reproduction is somehow connected with pyramid-building -- wasn't there a belief in ancient Egypt that ejaculation into the mouth could also cause pregnancy (and a myth in which another god impregnates the male god Set in this way?)
