"Plausible" vs. "realistic"

I like having a few demographic facts to build my ideas, scenarii etc. on. So many people live on so many square km (sorry, no miles, pounds or whatnot) ; so many hectares (again, not acres) can produce so much food. Such a percentage of the population can focus on other tasks than growing / procuring food. It makes Glorantha "PLAUSIBLE", not "realistic". If I wanted realistic I wouldn't roleplay.

I missed the point about Glorantha being "not so big" ; that's perfectly fine to me if you can go from Pavis to Furthest in three weeks' ride, without augmenting your speed with Magic. Perhaps it's a european thing, we are used to live in smaller settings :-)

So, the point remains to enjoy ourselves, not throwing epithets at each other, isn't it ? It's all for our pleasure.

That's certainly not the case. My files upon files of Gloranthan "facts" - population numbers, detailed censuses, detailed maps going down to the small city, etc - were created by Greg (and not me - I just edit it, arrange it, and get it illustrated). Many are more than 30 years old.

This information serves a very important role - to make Gloranthan societies believable. You don't need any of that to run a Gloranthan game, and even less to play in it. But if you want to write the background of a region (and get it published) you ought to keep those sorts of details in mind.
