The mystical insight that Law and Chaos are all one. The Illuminated are not constrained by the petty rules of Gods and Man: they are free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside. Shouting and killing and revelling in joy is optional.
Most ordinary (non-Lunar) people think that the Illuminated are dangerously insane. Whether they're correct, or whether the mystical insight provided by Illumination is actually true, (or both) is up to the Narrator.
