Interesting, and presumably in some way connected to the Great Compromise. Who or what is Yelm's Shadow? Basko the Black Sun? Or some Darkness deity that is Yelm's opposite and equal?

/// An even Greater Secret, since knowing it gives knowledge of what might be used as a weakness of the Sun. No good yelmite would admit this, by the way, and cover this up by some rubbish such as "the many becoming the one", etc. But We Know.

The Shadow of Yelm held everything that could hide from His Light, and which even He could not reach and cleanse with the Fires from the Sky. These things/beings were simply below His notice, yet they existed, and acted. Some Noble Houses name some of these creatures and how they fought them. Some degenerate foreigners have their own tales of such pathetic beings ; blasko the peasant is one of them.

Although Illuminated, Father Yelm and his worshippers do their best to keep that knowledge out of their mind.

And oh yes : there was no "great compromise". This is barbarian rubbish. After much suffering from the ungrateful world, and after having humbled arrogant godlings such as orlanatus, Father Yelm decided it was the proper time to Rise Again. Praise the Light.

What is the Illumination of Yelm?

/// A Great Secret, not one everybody likes to hear, including many Yelmite noble houses. It's what happened when Yelm discovered His Shadow. Even He casts a shadow. The universe is both bright and dark. Darkness, however vile and horrible, has its place as much as Yelm does. It's not something easy to admit, and it opens the mind to many other thoughts.
