Orlanth's killing of Yelm sparked the beginning of the Great Darkness. Orlanth realized the doom which he had inadvertently brought to the world, and knew that he must right his wrongs by bringing Yelm back to life. He gathered his companions and they entered hell alive. Their quest was successful, and Yelm the Sun was restored to his place in the Sky, causing the world to be reborn in its current state. It was after this that the group was dubbed the Lightbringers and their heroic deeds called the Lightbringer's Quest.

The reason for undertaking this quest made it impossible for Humakt to join his brother Orlanth.
