There was a suggestion that at one point in the HQ testing bonuses would replace edges, so a heavier weapon would give a plus to the skill used. I've thought about this a lot, and decided it's easier, quicker, and probably more in keeping with HW/HQ (edges felt like 'hit=damage', while bonuses add in the intimidation factor of a nice hefty Lochaber...).
Exactly WHAT bonus was not said, but a direct translation edge:bonus isn't ruinous.
