That's why I said "it ain't going to change" - even if a lot of people hate it, it's the game that Greg wanted to produce, and this kind of freeform ambiguity is crucial to the way he sees Glorantha, it would seem.

I have embraced the ambiguity as a good thing, because that's the only viable option. I want to run and play Hero Wars, so I accept it for what it is, warts and all. I think phrases like "Snarl Darkness" may be a problem, because it can be interpreted as either a power that uses darkness, or that fights against it, based on the double meaning of the English word "snarl". Then again, maybe it *is* a two-sided power that can be used in either interpretation of "snarl".

I'd be interested to know what the french for "snarl darkness" is, and if it has the same double meaning... babelfish says "snarl darkness" is "obscurité de vrille", whatever that is. It translates back as "darkness of gimlet", a gimlet being either "a small tool with a screw point, grooved shank, and cross handle for boring holes" or "a drink consisting of sweetened lime juice and gin or vodka and sometimes carbonated or plain water"! Now *that*'s ambiguous!
