I think that technically you do not use a feat as an initiate, you use an affinity and you must improvise when using that affinity, but I understand what you are asking:
Usage of an affinity is subject to an improvisational modifer. Is this rule changed by the statement that Esrola worshippers do not get an improvisational modifier on their own animal or plant?
IMO think the answer is no? IMO this statement should relate to feats and not affinities. Frx, if you are an Uralda devotee you take a improvisation modifier on those generic Esrola feats when the target is not a cow. If you are a Uralda initiate you get an improvisational modifer for using any affinity, regardless of the tarrget - but harsh narrators might want to increase this penalty when working with a nonsubcult animal or plant.
