yes, but by all accounts I've read, he emerged victorious from the battle with Nysalor horribly changed. Somewhere else I found something, I wish I could remember where, that seemed to hint that Ralzakark was the result of Arkat/Nysalor. If I can find it, I'll link to it.

But here is what has me puzzled: So each year the most common natural plant is uprooted and a ceremony, "Dorasta's Gift" is carried out. The flowers are her gift to her husband/protector Arkat. Arkat then rapes her and implants her with chaos. (and this sounds very Ralzakarkish to me) and from then on, that particular plant is twisted by chaos as described under Flora of Dorastor.

How is sowing chaos keeping chaos at bay?

I don't think that is the case. Arkat founded the Dark Empire and lived for an awfully long time before he apotheosised.

Yes, that is the case with Ralzakark - he is a combination of purity and baseness.

Arkat was mad by this point. He was so filled with bloodlust and hatred that he just could not stop. He was a ravening monster.

Dorasta might have been seen as an unwitting victim of Nysalor, but she was clearly not that. I think Arkat became her Husband Protector but punished her for being chaotic. Arkat's Curse made Dorastopr infertile, but Dorasta used the techniques she had learned from the Bright Empire to make her fruits random and so avoided the curse. She took on chaos to break the curse.

No, Arkat was a monster. They needed a monster to defeat the monsters.
