think of it this way:

"We own this town and the surrounding steads and fields. We own the Stream from the falls to Mossy Rock. We claim the Woods on this side of Krogar's Hill, and the whispering cave, which is on the other side of the hill. The Blue Cow Clan claims the valley between here and Krogar's Hill, and the Cinsargos Clan owns the far side of the hill, except for our cave"
