Two fiendish questions.

James Turner wonders innocently:
> 1. When you HeroQuest do you remain in the physical plane?

"Depends." At one extreme, if you sail off the edge of the world, then clearly No. At the other, if your HQ is a "minor" one (certainly including worship rituals and "practice" quests), then equally clearly Yes. There are lots of ifs, buts, and special cases, but by and large if you're on a "real" HQ, then at least at some point you leave the physical plane, very often by the "perform magic ritual -- vanish" method.

> If so, what do non heroquesting by-standers see?

Basically, the Questor wandering around acting strangely, standing there with a glazed look, that sort of thing.

Uh-oh.

I think that most Gloranthans typically believe their cults started when the god in question ordained it, and/or in some cases, when a sufficient state of separation between men and gods came into being that worship became the only way to actually contact the deities in question. For instance, Orlanthi would be likely to associate it with the Compromise.

Sensing this one will run and run,
Alex.
